OBAMACARE VS MEDICAL MARIJUANA

Show this article to your doctor, your priest, your local politician, Jeff Sessions or Donald Trump.  They'll all feel much better about medical marijuana after they read it.

As Trump extinguishes/revamps Obamacare, maybe the lights will come on, nationwide legalization of medical marijuana will save the country a ton of money and the figure is on the hundreds of billions of dollars per year, at a minimum.  Not only that, the majority of American doctors will support the legalization of medical marijuana across the country.  Mr. President, sir Donald, 69% of physicians are already on board right now, with 69% approving of legalization.

"The findings of our consumer-physician survey indicate the medical community's support for the use of cannabis as a treatment option, particularly among clinical specialties that have pioneered research." Dr Michael Smith

MEDICAL SYSTEM FAIL

Jeff S and Donald T : Do the math, you're very good at it.

  • Money spent on incarceration: In 2014, 700,000 were arrested.

  • Money spent on law enforcement. Marijuana cases account for about 25% of total arrests in the US.

  • How many officers does it take to chase, surveil, raid take down 700,000 "clients".

  • How much money is spent on lawyers fees, court costs, judge salaries and facilities?

  • Lost wages of prisoners to family and unnecessary damage to family and community, ruined lives.

  • How much is the cost of allowing drug cartels to fuel up their operations with green weed cash.

  • How much money can be made in sales tax?

To get the ball rolling on the federal savings, we'll get the ball rolling...  If each arrest on average resulted in $100,000 damages all told, then we're talking about $70,000,000,000 in total cost.  The total prescription drug bill in the US is now somewhere around $320 billion.  Cannabis based medicines take a major bite out of that figure, because medical marijuana is recommended for pain, inflammation, insomnia, anti-inflammatory disorders, which are the major areas addressed by pharmaceuticals.  Furthermore, there is an avalanche of new cannabis based medicines that may afford treatment to many hard to treat, impossible to treat conditions.

"The IMS Institute for Healthcare Informatics is forecasting that annual increases in U.S. prescription drug spending will slow to 4 to 7 percent through 2020, after rising around 10 percent in each of the past three years. It predicts spending will reach $370 billion to $400 billion in 2020."

The marijuana landscape has changed greatly all over the world.  The majority of American citizens want marijuana to be legalized.  Believe it or not, a greater percentage of medical physicians want to see pot legal as compared to the average person.

In a 2014 survey of about 1,500 doctors and 3,000 consumers. 69 percent of physicians said medical cannabis can help with certain conditions and treatments - while  52 percent of average citizens agreed that cannabis is medicinal.

MARIJUANA COALITION, THE DEEP STATE AND ROGER STONE - QUESTION AND ANSWER

Overall, 67 percent of physicians said they believed medical cannabis should be an option for patients. 50% of physicians in states where medical cannabis isn't legal agreed it should be legal.  It might be concluded that once marijuana is legalized and physicians see the results, then they come on board for the most part.

SPECIALISTS SUPPORT MMJ MORE THAN GP

Support for medical cannabis was highest among cancer and blood disorder specialists at 82 percent believing that  cannabis can provide substantial benefits patients. It should be noted that specialists are more highly educated as compared to general practitioners and are more likely to come in contact with medical marijuana users.  Again the data supports the idea that physicians that have contact and experience with marijuana approve and ignorant physicians disapprove.

Despite the profound gains in knowledge and understanding about medical marijuana, profound ignorance has not completely evaporated by any stretch of the imagination.

"Despite more than 20 years of anecdotal evidence about the medicinal effects of cannabis, physicians and consumers remain in search of answers. Yet these survey data suggest additional studies will inform decision-makers' confidence in where medical cannabis can help and where it might not. " - Dr. Michael Smith

After legalization, teen cannabis use drops sharply in Colorado

A nationwide government survey found that teen cannabis use dropped sharply in Colorado over the past few years.  Coloradans aged 12 to 17 use dropped from 20.8 percent down to 18.3 percent from 2014 to 2015.   In other states where marijuana is legal, teen marijuana dropped in every instance, with sizable drops in California, Oregon, Washington and Nevada.  Though statistically it is hard to conclude that legalized marijuana causes minors not to consume, it provides assurance among worried parents that legalization did not cause young people to start smoking pot.

National Survey on Drug Use and Health: Comparison of 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 Population Percentages (50 States and the District of Columbia)

Raw data galore.  Alcohol use goes down in states where marijuana is legal.  Mental illness is on the rise across the country, at very disturbing rates and correlate with the increased use of over the counter drugs, opiates and street drugs (excluding marijuana).

Colorado medical students defend physicians' right to recommend cannabis

Colorado medical students viewed legalization of cannabis favorably, medicinal and recreational.  They generally thought that the medicinal use of cannabis is viable in the treatment of conditions approved by the Colorado Medical Cannabis Registry. 49% felt that MMJ had significant physical health benefits, while 37 percent believed it benefitted mental health issues. These findings contrast with other studies, that found that the average Colorado family physicians would only recommend cannabis to patients who suffer from pain or cancer and that only 27 percent thought it had significant benefits physically.

Survey: Doctors' political views may affect patient care

Up until the last election at least, Republican physicians were much less optimistic than Democrats about medical marijuana. Republican physicians were 64 percent more likely to say they'd discuss cannabis's legal risks and 47 percent more likely to urge them to cut back than Democrat physicians.  Democrat physicians were 66 percent more likely to say they'd urge parents of small children not to store firearms at home, as opposed to, Republican physicians who preferred to ask about safe storage of guns, according to a survey published in the National Academy of Sciences proceedings.

The follow up study we want to see; do the Democrat doctors have more experience with marijuana as compared to Republican physicians?  Probably very likely?

OBAMA THE HYPOCRITE

Physicians make easy money from medical cannabis. What happens when it's legal?

This article talks about the easy money that doctor's supposedly make by providing medical marijuana recommendations.  Some doctors do charge through the nose @$100 or more per 420 Evaluation, but that is not out of line with any other similar service in the medical industry.  Thanks to the wisdom of the California Board of Medicine, medical marijuana patients are allowed to get a legal physician's recommendation online using Telehealth.

The process is streamlined and all the forms are filled out - in a few minutes - 100% online - and the doctor's work is cut down, resulting in a sizable reduction in the fees to the patient.  Recommendations cost about $50 and Cannabis ID cards are an additional $20.  Combine that with the time savings over a visit to the clinic and you're looking at a savings that Donald Trump might approve of... we'd like to think..

In California and Nevada, the Cannabis ID card will exempt patients from state sales tax on cannabis, though a 15% excise tax would still apply, plus any local taxes cities and counties might apply.  That's $15 on a hundred.  So moving forward, you want one.

Top physicians form group to back cannabis legalization

While moldy pot and chemicals account for most of the toxic effects of marijuana, there is substantial scientific that cannabis abuse, or cannabinoid hypermesis syndrome is a thing.

CAN WEED MAKE YOU SICK?

The cannabis industry has a new important ally.  A group of influential medical profession teamed up to support the legalization of cannabis in the best interests of public health.

“The medical profession should join with the public to design a safe and effective public health approach to legalizing cannabis use,” David Lewis, founder of the Brown University Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies

The group is called Physicians for Cannabis Regulation and is the first such organization to advocate for the legalization and regulation of cannabis. The group is comprised of more than 50 physicians, including former U.S. surgeon general Jocelyn Elders and the faculty of some of the country’s most prestigious medical schools.

After Medical cannabis Legalized, Medicare Prescriptions Drop For Many Drugs

Legalized medical cannabis, that is recommended for symptoms like chronic pain, anxiety or depression and  inflammation directly correlated with a decline in Medicare prescriptions for drugs used to treat said conditions and a decline in spending by Medicare Part D, which covers the cost on prescription medications.  Patients chose to pay for medical marijuana out of their own pocket in many instances where prescription drugs were covered by insurance.

Opioid painkillers and antidepressants and associated Medicare spending on those drugs fell in states where cannabis could be chosen as a replacement.  Researchers concluded that legalization of marijuana was the cause for the drop in prescriptions. Blood-thinner medication sales did not drop.  It was noted that cannabis is not used for this purpose, at least at this time.
