Anyone that say's that the medical efficacy of marijuana is not known or properly studied in clinical or scientific conditions is simply a very, very ignorant person. They will have not have simply read a Wikipedia page on THC, CBD, cannabinoids nor terpenes. They will be unaware of the thousands of studies and patents on cannabinoids worldwide. In short, they will not (or don't want to) have done their research.

THE ABSURD HISTORY OF MARIJUANA
Humans have cultivated and consumed the flowering tops of the female cannabis plant, colloquially known as marijuana since at least 7,000 B.C.E After the War of Independence in 1776 ,the US Government required - under the law - that every farmer grow hemp. The founding fathers, including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin all grew both industrial and Indian hemp, the psychoactive kind.
“Make the most of the Indian hemp seed, . . . and sow it everywhere!” - President George Washington 1776

The US Federal Government banned Cannabis under the Marihuana Tax Act of 1937 went on to classify marijuana and all of the plant's organic compounds (known as cannabinoids) as a Schedule I substance under the Controlled Substances Act of 1970.
This classification, which categorizes the plant as possessing 'a high potential for abuse, ... no currently accepted medical use. Meanwhile, marijuana based medicines were widely prescribed by medical doctors and the efficacy of marijuana was described in medical tests, including the pharmacist's bible, US Pharmacopeia. Later researchers working for the Federal Government would patent cannabis based medicines, claiming the inventions had medical application.
``Pain, gastrointestinal diseases, cancer side effects, pediatric epilepsy, now also PTSD. Only the natural material is approved.``- Dr. Raphael Mechoulam
What is the status of medicinal cannabis use in Israel now? What are the most common issues it is being used to treat and in what populations? Are such treatments using natural oil extracts or synthetic variations?
"Modulating endocannabinoid system activity may have therapeutic potential in almost all diseases affecting humans, including obesity/metabolic syndrome, diabetes and diabetic complications, neurodegenerative, inflammatory, cardiovascular, liver, gastrointestinal, skin diseases, pain, psychiatric disorders, cachexia, cancer, chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting, among many others."- Dr. Raphael Mechoulam: Kunos and Pacher of NIH (candidates for the Nobel Prize 0 in our estimation).
Mosaic of Dr. Mechoulam, the discoverer of THC and many Cannabinoids. If you are a marijuana researcher, you want to study this man and his work, in detail.
Dr. Mechoulam is an acclaimed, world renowned orthodox medical marijuana researcher, who`s work was funded by the US Federal government, major pharmaceutical companies, universities among other reputable organizations. Despite his orthodox methodologies and good relationship with the establishment, he`s true to the cause, that medical marijuana is highly beneficial as a medicine.
SIXTEEN THOUSAND PATENTS LISTED FOR CANNABIS AND COUNTING
16,652 patents for Marijuana related inventions are listed here, with several thousand focused on medical applications.
There are about 26,000 (2017) original peer reviewed scientific papers referencing the marijuana plant and its medicinal components; cannabinoids. Roughly half of these reports were published within the last ten years

HOW TO FIND USEFUL MATERIAL IN MEDICAL JOURNALS
Here is a List of Medical Journals, many of which have interesting, original research articles that have escaped our and other researcher's gaze. If you have a serious medical condition and are using cannabis to treat your conditions and symptoms, is it not in your best interest to become an expert, and make your health your hobby? In this adventure, that life surely is, you can learn the terminology, and look up each and every word that you don't' know.
``You pointed out at one point that much work remains to be done before medical marijuana can be available to people of all ages in quantified doses: "We don't know exact amounts and how to use it, so we cannot give it to everybody." Are we closer to knowing that? What about letting people self-medicate with the plant itself? Is that generally a bad idea?`` - Anthony Wile:
``We are not much closer, but many of our 18,000 patients seem to be learning to self-medicate. However, such medication is a major problem for many individuals. Most physicians are also still in the dark.`- Dr. Raphael Mechoulam:
It is useful to read interviews with pioneers such as Dr. Mechoulam because it reminds us of the abysmal state of non-pharma research in the US and the West generally. The West's medical model is commonly held up as a successful healthcare paradigm but it is based on a mechanical idea of "fixing" the body instead of bringing it back into balance. Ancient medical models stressed bringing the body back into balance using, among other healing techniques, natural plants.
Cannabis medicines were well known and widely studied by American physicians. Basically, the establishment whitewashed the history books, that is, until the internet came along, and the facts resurfaced into the public domain.
COMMENTARY ON RESEARCH EFFORTS
After all, medical terms are actually composed of simple works, but they come from Latin, so everything sounds complex and scientific. For example, the word, spectrometer in Latin translates to see foot, which sounds hillbilly. See foot means to look and measure. In other words, in Latin, anuspanem. the condition, pain in the ass sounds really scientific.
Sadly, professionals use a language barrier to protect their turf, and makes it difficult for the average person to understand what they do, and to justify their elite status and hefty invoices. This is never so true as in the legal and medical fields, where the language used implies that something very sophisticated must be going on, when most issues and the understanding thereof, are rather basic.
So we suggest that you take the attitude that - you can do it - that is if you possess an average IQ, some drive and patience. Or you can work together with a sibling, spouse or friend that is passionate about your and potentially their condition.
NOTES ABOUT MEDICAL MARIJUANA AND LITERATURE BIAS
Where is most of the research being conducted currently – certain countries, institutions, companies? Is this collaborative or mostly individually? And where is the funding coming from, for the most part.
"US (mostly preclinical, supported by NIDA), Spain, Italy, Germany, UK (all supported by government sources), Israel and Brazil. My research at present is supported by a donor in Boston (the Kessler Foundation) and by the Brazilian Government (in collaboration with a Brazilian group). There is a lot of collaboration. I have published with friends from all the above countries. The most advanced cannabis company in the world is in the UK, which has published extensively." - Dr. Raphael Mechoulam
Medical Marijuana is a serious competitor to pharmaceutical drugs, with global sales of about $1 trillion in 2017. A portion of Big Pharma's warchest is devoted to the suppression of marijuana and, natural remedies as a whole.
BIG PHARMA - RESEARCH GOOD, BAD AND UGLY
Much of the so-called orthodox (Big Pharma Funded more or less) research is dedicated to negative research efforts, that tries to find negatives in the use of cannabis. Academic and especially government researchers are tempted to bias data and their interpretations to manipulate opinion which leads to funding and tenure.
The long history of cannabis as a medicine stretches back thousands of years; for example, there is ample record of its use in ancient China. When did it start to become seriously investigated for use in Western medicine? Has the historical record informed modern research at all?
``It was never "seriously investigated" in Western medicine. There are very few clinical trials. It was not, and it is not "seriously used" in official Western medicine.``- Dr. Raphael Mechoulam:
UN AND WHO ARE BREAKING DOWN - HONEST RESEARCH LEAKS OUT
Cannabinoids possess a remarkable safety record, particularly when compared to other therapeutically active substances, particularly prescription drugs. Most significantly, the consumption of marijuana -- regardless of quantity or potency -- cannot induce a fatal overdose. According to a 1995 review prepared for the World Health Organization, There are no recorded cases of overdose fatalities attributed to cannabis, and the estimated lethal dose for humans extrapolated from animal studies is so high that it cannot be achieved by ... users.
"The 'natural cannabis flowers' contain precursors of THC and CBD, which have to be heated or to stay around for some time to convert into THC and CBD. Hence, if consumed without heating (or smoking) they may be inactive. Oils for oral consumption are usually heated, hence they are active, but the effects come on much later than when smoked. Specific cannabinoids (CBD, for example) are very valuable compounds. 'Synthetic cannabinoids' are compounds different than those in the plant (or the brain) and may be toxic. A person should be crazy to test on himself a compound of this sort." - Dr. Raphael Mechoulam:
