SCHOLARS THINK JESUS MIRACLE CAME FROM CANNABIS
Was JESUS an early champion of cannabis medicinal properties? A growing consensus of experts agree. In a recent discovery, the ancient Biblical city of Corinth was uncovered in underwater excavations. American Orthodox rabbi and Biblical scholar Aryeh Kaplan, and other leaned ones attribute the meaning of Keneh Bosem in scripture to be equivalent to the English and Greek terms for cannabis or cannobis, or the hemp-cannabis plant.
Scholars point to they describe as a cannabis oil recipe : Exodus 30: 22-25:
We now know that this controversial drug can effectively treat a vast array of symptoms and conditions. One cannabis historian, author David Bienenstock is one who believes that cannabis oil was the basis of the miracle cure attributed to Jesus.
“Historical records show that cannabis was widely available at the time – they would’ve known how to grow it and exploit its medicinal properties. There is nothing really different from the efficacious cannabis oil used today that wasn't available to people in Jesus’ time - they only had to simply concentrate the cannabis into the oil and absorbing it through the skin."
“Take also for yourself the finest of spices: of flowing myrrh five hundred shekels, and of fragrant cinnamon half as much, two hundred and fifty, and of fragrant cane two hundred and fifty … it shall be a holy anointing oil.” - Spice and Cannabis Oil?
“They cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick and healed them” - On healing the blind with cannabis oil?
"Anointing is understood to mean to ceremonially confer divinity by smearing or rubbing with oil." - Mark 6:13
Some scholars identify the fragrant cane described in the bible to be cinnamon bark.
Polish anthropologist Sula Benet argues that equating Keneh Bosem with sweet cane is traced to a mistranslation in the Septuagint, which is the earliest Old Testament translation. Keneh Bosem was later referred to as "cannabis" in the Talmud as "kalabos" which is a common Egyptian marsh cane plant.
While the exact phrasing is not perfectly translated in every case, there can be little doubt about a role for cannabis in Judaic religion, and those uses had to included medical.
The existence of cannabis in anointing oils used in ceremonies is very probable, the easy availability and long-established tradition of cannabis in early Judaism would inevitably have included it in the Christian mixture, for there was no idea about prohibition, no notion of evil attributed to this ancient medicinal herb.
There are even passages in the Bible where Jesus’ treatment of the sick echoes modern testimonials about cannabis oil in treating epilepsy.
“They cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick and healed them.” Mark 6:13\\
When Jesus returned from his many years of "wandering", there is no doubt that people were attracted to his learnings, learnings that were, if you believe in medical science, attributable to various traditional medical practices that he picked up in his travels. It is quite conceivable he picked up exotic herbal preparations along the way, and practicing them among the poor, the effects would have been akin to a miracle, like a David Copperfield of sorts.
Assuming the oil described in Exodus was in fact cannabis oil, the effective dose of the plant's medicinal compounds could have been potent enough to explain many of the healing miracles attributed to Jesus.
We know now that marijuana has been shown to be an effective treatment for skin diseases, glaucoma, pain, cramps, headache, neurodegenerative conditions and multiple sclerosis and more.
Some scholars "even" suggest that Jesus himself was anointed with cannabis oil, and why not. The Bible is referencing a medicinal oil after all, and perhaps it was Jesus that helped popularize the benefits of cannabis and other oils in medical therapy. This is the idea that may indicate that by Jesus anointing his flock he picked up the "nickname" ‘Christ, which means the anointed one or meddiah. With anointed one, being one who undergoes a profound and insightful experience or perhaps psychoactive event.
“The medical use of cannabis during that time is supported by archaeological records. If cannabis was one of the main ingredients of the ancient Christian anointing oil, as history indicates,” Bennett said, “receiving this oil is what made Jesus the Christ and his followers Christians." - Chris Bennett, Sex, Drugs, Violence, and the Bible
In this century, the not so Bible belting Caldwell’s (family that the Partridge family was based on) have been vocal in calling for non-psychoactive high-CBD cannabis legalisation. Rascal Billy Caldwell was admitted to hospital after his medical cannabis oil was confiscated and his mother says his seizures are reduced when he takes the oil.
“It is a tremendous alternative to pharmaceutical drugs and having this debate can help bring healing to people who are suffering, which is at the ethical core of Christianity.”
Some three thousand years before Christ, the Yamnaya people out of Central Asia spread not only their genes - found in most living Europeans and South Asians - but also brought their cannabis to Europe and the Middle East. The problem is that it is not firmly established that the Yamnaya used cannabis simply for fiber in their clothing and rope, or if they actually smoked it. However, recent digs in Western China have shown that blond Caucasians were buried with a stash of psychoactive weed, which, no doubt was selectively bred for its "spiritual" properties.
